A short, practical guide to installing the companion app on Android and iOS, the supported versions, and what to do if installation fails.

Before you install

Two checks that save most installation problems.

Storage space

The companion app is around 40 MB on Android and 50 MB on iOS. Free up storage if your device is below 200 MB free.

Operating system version

Android 9 (Pie) or later. iOS 15 or later. Older versions will install but may not receive feature updates.

Network connection

Use Wi-Fi for the first install to avoid mobile data charges. Subsequent updates are small and work over mobile data.

Source of the app

Download only from the operator's official site or your device's official app store. Third-party sites repackage apps and may inject malware.

Android

On Android

Open the Google Play Store and search for the app by name. The official app is published under the IPL Fantasy Score publisher name. Tap Install, accept the permissions, and the app is ready in a few minutes.

If your device does not have Google Play, you can download the APK from the operator's official site. Enable "Install unknown apps" only for the browser you are using, install the APK, and disable the permission after install.

iOS

On iOS

Open the App Store and search for the app by name. The official app is published under the IPL Fantasy Score publisher name. Tap Get, authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password, and the app is ready in a few minutes.

If your device runs iOS 14 or earlier, the app may not appear in search results. The minimum supported version is iOS 15; older devices can still read the editorial desk on the web.

If installation fails

Five steps to try, in order.

  1. Confirm your device meets the minimum OS version (Android 9 / iOS 15).
  2. Free up at least 200 MB of storage.
  3. Restart the device and retry the install.
  4. If the app appears stuck at "Pending", clear the Play Store / App Store cache and retry.
  5. If the issue persists, contact support with your device model and OS version.

A note on ownership

Ownership percentage is the most under-used input on a fantasy desk. In a large contest, the captain should rarely be the most-picked player. A captain who is owned by 8% of the contest and who fits the surface gives you a swing; a captain who is owned by 60% gives you no differential. Track ownership through the season, not just at the start.

The surface is the input

Read the pitch report before you read the line-up. The surface dictates the captain pool more reliably than the recent form table. A dry turner and a flat deck are different games; treat them as such.

The captain is the output

Pick the captain after the surface, form and match-up all point one way. If they do not point one way, pick the differential. The captain pick is the single biggest source of variance in any contest.
